"Where Care and Compassion Go Hand in Hand"

Steve Kinney. (Loving Son)

Caring Hands was a great place for my father to spend the last 11 months of his life. Dad’s caregivers at Caring Hands made him feel like he was a part of a big family. The owners went above and beyond what I could have hoped for. They made sure his needs were met, whether it was physical needs or even socializing. There are lots of good caring people in this small Caring Hands setting.

Our mother lived at Caring Hands Assisted Living for three years. We interviewed seven different personal care homes before choosing Caring Hands. We made the right choice!!!We are so happy and grateful for the wonderful love, care and support the owners and all the staff provided to her and to us. It truly was personal and caring.

During her stay, they took a genuine interest in her and our family. It was a blessing knowing she was in such good hands. They accompanied us through her passing, which was very beautiful and peaceful. Many blessings and thanks to the owners and all the Caring Hands staff.

When my mother was diagnosed with Dementia, I was determined to care for her on my own. However, after a couple of bad falls and accidents, we knew we could not continue to give her the care she needed. I looked at so many different places for her. When I found Caring Hands, I knew that would be her new home. The owners and staff were beyond accommodating and so helpful in guiding me thru the process. Once my mom was there, I began to feel as though she had become an extended part of a big family. When my mom couldn't feed herself, they sat by her bed and helped her eat. They were always so attentive to every one of her needs with dignity and love. My mom actually thrived under their care with home cooked fresh meals, a clean room and bed, and such a peaceful, safe surrounding. When my mom started to transition, I cannot express to you enough the outpouring of care and round the clock support we had from the team at Caring Hands. I was sitting with my mom late one night, and someone entered the room in the middle of the night. It was one of the owners. She said she couldn't sleep, so she thought she would come check on my mom. My heart will forever be touched by her thoughtfulness and concern she showed for my mom.

My mom slipped peacefully from this earth, and I can't think of a better place to have had her during this difficult time. There are no thanks that I could ever say that would completely convey the burden that was lifted from me. What a blessing it was to have found such an amazing home for mom in her last year with us, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for that special home to place a loved one.

I am glad Caring Hands took care of Mother. I knew I would be Led to the right place. There could have never been a better placement for Mother than Caring Hands. The owners were very professional, always personable, caring, and attentive to Mother’s needs. The staff were very positive and warm throughout her stay at Caring Hands. They often tried to entice her to eat different home cooked meals. I never doubted the care Mother received at Caring Hands. The beautiful landscaping and yard provided a great “HOME” feeling I always wanted for Mother.

Sherry & James Dobson. (Loving Daughter and Son-in-Law)

To the wonderful Caring Hands staff and owners, the Dobson family would like to say a “Special Thank You” for the wonderful, loving care you showed to our mother during the years she has been in your care. She was always taken care of in every way. We know that at times she could be difficult, but you always treated her with kindness and respect. May God continue to bless your daily care for the elderly, as you provide the highest level of care to “God’s children”. We write this with love and respect for all you do!

Due to moving out of Texas, we’ve had to relocate mom to another assisted living facility in another state. We can only pray and hope that mom’s new facility will provide the same kind of care she received while at Caring Hands. They were on top of her needs at all times and kept us informed whenever there was a concern of any kind. There were times when mom was a little difficult and the staff handled these times very professionally. We have the highest respect for the owners and the rest of the staff at Caring Hands Assisted Living.

My father was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) a form of Dementia. He was functioning well until he wasn't and this came quickly and without much warning to the family. He was admitted to a skilled nursing facility and after a couple of visits to see him, I knew we had to move him fast. I had promised my dad that we would never place him in a “Nursing Home”. However, I also knew that we could not take care of a Dementia patient and realized he would need 24-hour care which included Hospice.

Myself living in Dallas, about a 4-hour drive from Caring Hands, I was desperate to find another solution. Then someone gave me the name of “Caring Hands” a Personal Care Home in Porter, Texas. I immediately contacted them and was able to speak to the owners directly. Even though it was early-evening, they still answered the call. The very next day we met.

There are no words to describe the level of comfort, relief, and gratitude I felt on the first meeting with Caring Hands owners. They started making arrangements right then and there to get my dad transferred into their care. Two days later he was transferred. They handled everything along with and in sync with the Hospice team.

Also having my mother with Parkinson’s’ disease, they were so compassionate and so very helpful and took the entire family into consideration. Being in the healthcare industry myself, I have to say that seldom do you ever come across a place like Caring Hands, it’s a hidden gem. It's like being in your own home. The home is beautiful, so very clean, and smells wonderful, food is all homemade, and the staff is remarkable and really care about the patients and their families.

Although dad was only in their hands a short period of time before he died, they made sure he was always clean, comfortable, and at peace. Every time I would visit dad, he always smelled so good, his clothes were fresh and clean, and he always had a smile until he died.

Our entire family is forever grateful to Caring Hands family and their entire staff of gracious caregivers for giving so much to my dad in his final days.

We highly recommend Caring Hands. It is a small residential home that has a maximum capacity of 16 residents, both in private and semi-private rooms. Because it’s small, it feels homey and most of the staff have been there for a long time. We visited it initially three times before we committed, and never came announced. Always clean, and the meals are prepared from very fresh ingredients, all cooked on site. Our mother needs help with transferring, bathing, dressing, and other personal things, as she is generally in a wheelchair. They have a call button system for assistance, and the ratio of staff to residents seems good. We’ve been very pleased with the healthcare also – they have a nurse practitioner who comes regularly to check on everyone, and who will stop by for any issue a resident might have. They immediately arrange for the right care from hospitalization, physical therapy, or just a prescription, and are great about keeping us in the loop. The place is owned by a couple and the wife is a Registered Nurse who is on site regularly to assure everything is well with the residents. Because they care about their facility, they’ve recently renovated the great room, kitchen and a couple bathrooms, and it really looks nice. Communication is excellent, the site itself is clean and pleasant smelling, and the food is prepared fresh at each meal with some customization. We like Caring Hands so much better than some of the larger institutions which feel impersonal to us.

Ms. Fannie M. (Resident)

"Since Feb 2015 I have been so blessed to call Caring Hands home. I do consider it my home, and I believe it to be the best one so far! The new owners and the staff are really nice and treat me with a lot of respect and love. They pay attention to all my care details and are available all the time. It is truly a blessing to be at Caring Hands where I receive genuine, full of love & affection care each day. Finally, this is my last home…& I’m peaceful now that I’m here. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs help with their daily living."

Ms. Carolyne S. (Resident)

In the past year I have been in several different care facilities, hospitals and rehab centers. I have experienced first-hand the care in each one, and I could say I was really looking forward to coming “home” at Caring Hands. The staff are all very knowledgeable and well trained in what they do for us, and they do their work with a good heart. The owners are very involved and caring for all the residents and their facility.

If I had to make the choice again of where to stay, it would be at Caring Hands without any hesitation at all.

Yvette S. (Loving Daughter)

My mother has been a resident at Caring Hands for almost 10 years and my husband and I have been very happy with the care that she receives. What really makes Caring Hands a great place for a loved one is that the staff treat all the residents like family. The food is good, they even use fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden in the back yard and the home is always clean and well kept. Whenever there is an issue we are notified and it’s easy to communicate with the owners (we usually use text messages). They are always looking for ways to improve my mother’s quality of life with things like new treatments as her health changes and knowing her likes and dislikes when it comes to meals. We are very comfortable having my mother at Caring Hands knowing that she is getting the best care possible.

Hugh P. (Loving Son)

Over five years ago my mother was diagnosed with dementia and was put in hospice care. We looked around for a place where she could receive care during what we thought were to be her final days. Today she is not only surviving, but THRIVING, at Caring Hands! The owners and staff maintain a high quality of services to the residents and their families, while providing a warm, loving atmosphere. My mother loves her helpers and we love the consistency! Fresh home-cooked meals, good conversations, activities, and expert medical care are hard to find, but Caring Hands has been the place where we found it all!

Cathy N. (Loving Daughter)

Caring Hands assisted living was an answered prayer for my family. My mom had dementia and needed 24-hour care. After 3 different facilities that did not stand up to the quality of care that I felt she needed and deserved, Caring Hands was amazing. I could finally sleep at night knowing she was getting the best care available. The staff were caring and attentive to her needs, home cooked meals and the home was always clean. In the 3 years that my mom needed full time care, I never had an issue or complaint. If you're looking for a loving, caring place for your loved one, this is it. I hope they're around when I need them.

Helga & Pete F. (Loving Sister and Brother-in-Law)

We wish to thank the owners and all the caregivers at Caring Hands for the kind and caring experience our sister had in your facility towards the end of her life here.  We know she could feel the true love and care she received at Caring Hands from all of you.  She also told us that she felt a great sense of relief and comfort from the appearance of the facility itself. The combination of your personal care and the ambiance of the facility gave our sister great peace and comfort during her final time here, for which we are eternally grateful.

Richard L. B. (Loving Son)

My mother has been a resident of Caring Hands, for over a year. I have been extremely pleased with the care she has received. They take care of her as if she were a member of their own family. They are kind, loving and considerate people. Their home is immaculate. They take care of her every need and, within their power, her wants.

I am so pleased to have found such a wonderful alternative to a nursing home for my mother. I highly recommend Caring Hands to anyone needing an assisted living home.

Ella M. Y. (Loving Daughter)

My husband and I have visited many facilities (including both nursing homes and private assisted living), trying to find a place we would feel comfortable leaving her. She has been in two assisted living facilities and one nursing home in the past five years.

When we found Caring Hands, we were very impressed with the beautiful home and landscaping. The first time we went there to look at the place from the outside. We had no appointment, but thought we might ask if we could look around inside. Without any hesitation we were invited in. We were even more impressed. When I saw the furnishing and the way it is kept, I knew right away that his was where I wanted Mother to be.

Mother has been with Caring Hands for ten months and is very happy. The meals you wouldn’t believe. Such a variety of good and healthy things to eat. Caring Hands is also good about finding what each person likes and cooking that. Caring Hands staff are very dedicated to the old folks who live with them. I hope Caring Hands will be around to take care of me when my time comes. They have taken a lot of stress from me. I thank the Lord for them every day.

Arlene B. (Loving Daughter)

It is with gratitude I write this letter thanking you for the way you are taking care of my Mom, Amelia, in your “Caring Home” facility. She has many needs as she approaches her 90th birthday, and you show her unconditional love as you care for her. You treat her as a family member helping her to maintain her dignity in spite of her Alzheimer’s disease.

Thank you and may God bless you.
